The Reading Rooms is more than a book group.
We read books, stories and poems. We chat over a cup of tea, discover new authors and enjoy spending time together.
But there's something else.
The Reading Rooms has been created as a place where women can be themselves, where they feel welcomed, and where they can enjoy connection and community. There's no pressure to have read a book from cover to cover, no expectation to speak if you'd rather listen, and no need to be an expert on literature. It's about experiencing the joy of books and stories together.
Some women join the groups because they love reading. Others join to meet new people, enjoy good company or take an hour out of a busy week. Everyone arrives with their own story, and that's what makes every group unique.
A character, a poem or a single sentence can spark a conversation, make us laugh, stir a memory or help us see something in a different way. Stories have a remarkable way of connecting us – to ourselves, to each other and to the world around us.
Kindness, compassion and understanding are at the heart of every group. We value listening as much as talking, and every way of taking part is welcome.
Perhaps that's what makes The Reading Rooms special.
It's not just about reading. It's about sharing stories, discovering new books, enjoying a cup of tea, laughing together and finding connection through the pleasure of reading.
Whether you read every day, now and then, love a book, a Kindle, or audio, you'll find a warm welcome waiting for you.
